Bring a Rhode Island tradition to your griddle with Kenyon’s Johnny Cake Corn Meal. This stone-ground white cornmeal is the foundation for the small cornmeal cakes that have long held a place at New England tables. Prepare them using Kenyon’s recipe, cook until golden, and enjoy warm with butter, honey, or your favorite topping. You can also use the meal in recipes calling for white cornmeal. Behind each bag is Kenyon’s Grist Mill, where granite millstones and generations of milling knowledge connect today’s kitchen with Rhode Island’s past. A distinctive pantry staple for curious cooks, regional-food lovers, and anyone ready to try a different breakfast tradition.

Kenyon’s Grist Mill: Rhode Island Tradition, One Johnny Cake at a Time

Along the Queen’s River in Usquepaugh, Rhode Island, Kenyon’s Grist Mill continues a milling tradition documented on the property as early as 1696. The present mill building dates to 1886, and Charles D. Kenyon purchased the business in 1909. Today, the mill uses granite millstones to produce meals and flours, including the white cornmeal closely associated with Rhode Island Johnny Cakes.
