Reed’s Butterscotch Hard Candy brings rich, buttery sweetness to an old-fashioned candy roll. Unwrap a piece and let its smooth butterscotch flavor develop slowly—the kind of small treat that belongs beside the register at a general store.

The Reed’s story began in Chicago in 1893. Today’s individually wrapped candies bring that familiar flavor back for longtime fans and a new generation of candy-counter visitors.

Why We Chose It

There’s a Reason It’s Here.

Reed’s adds a classic hard candy and a Chicago maker story to the counter. Its portable roll, long-lasting butterscotch flavor, and return after years away from store shelves give customers a reason to pick it up and read its history.

Chicago’s Butterscotch Roll Makes a Comeback

The Reed’s Candy Company was founded in Chicago in 1893. It became known for butterscotch hard candy cooked in copper kettles and later added flavors such as root beer, cinnamon, and peppermint.

Production of Reed’s candy stopped in 2006. Iconic Candy brought the brand back in 2015, reviving the individually wrapped rolls and the butterscotch flavor that made Reed’s a candy-counter favorite.
