The Coffee That Tastes Like New Orleans
Café du Monde opened its original coffee stand in the New Orleans French Market in 1862. Its dark-roasted Coffee & Chicory became inseparable from the experience of visiting the city, particularly when served café au lait beside a plate of powdered-sugar beignets. Chicory, the roasted root of the endive plant, adds body and rounds the coffee’s bitter edge. More than 160 years later, the blend remains one of the most recognizable tastes of New Orleans.
