The story behind the name

A Cherry-Centered Candy Counter Discovery

Christopher’s Big Cherry combines a sweet cherry filling with a chocolate coating and peanuts. The combination makes it a distinctive choice beside caramel bars and peanut butter cups. Its appeal lies in the contrast: a fruity center, chocolatey sweetness, and a nutty finish. Big Cherry is a brand discovery for some shoppers and a remembered favorite for others.

A New Chapter for Christopher’s Candies

2006

In 2006, Christopher’s chocolate candies found a new home with Adams & Brooks. The change followed Jelly Belly’s purchase of the Ben Myerson Candy Company’s candy-making business. Jelly Belly retained the Sunkist Fruit Gems operation and sold the Christopher’s chocolate line—including Big Cherry and Good News—to Adams & Brooks.

The acquisition included the chocolate-making equipment, brand name, and trademarks. It brought familiar Christopher’s candies into another family candy business with Los Angeles roots, allowing their story to continue under new ownership.
